Banned Books and Book Clubs

September 25th, 2009

After even more rain, today has turned into another beautiful Fall day here in Texas.  I’m taking a writing break to update the blog–and enjoy the view outside my window.  Look what landed in my inbox!

Carol Fitzgerald of Bookreporter.com & ReadingGroupGuides.com had this to say about RAINWATER:

“[a] true testimony to the power of Sandra’s storytelling. I am so looking forward to sharing this with you. It’s a real treat.”

Also, I received an email from a reader who wanted to let me know that her book club had chosen RAINWATER as one of their 2010 reads!

Besides being Saturday, tomorrow is the start of Banned Book Week, an annual event sponsored by the American Library Association in acknowledgement of the freedom to read.  We’ll be blogging all week about books and how they’ve touched our lives.  I hope you’ll stop by and weigh in.

Some well known banned books include TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD (as recent as 2007), WICKED: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, THE CATCHER IN THE RYE, THE COLOR PURPLE, and HUCK FINN.
