Shelly knows that having an affair with your professor goes against the rules at any college.

After leaving her disastrous marriage behind, Shelley Browning goes back to college to get her degree and comes face-to-face with an unforgettable man from her past. Grant Chapman had briefly taught her in high school ten years earlier. There teacher and student had shared a single, scorching, unplanned kiss that still haunts Shelley’s dreams.

Now, as irresistible as ever, Grant has just returned to teaching after a stint as a congressional aide in Washington…and sees no impropriety in asking Shelley out. Isn’t this what she secretly longs for? Never has Shelley felt more confused about what she really wants or what is best for them both. But a stunning accusation is about to change all that and force Shelley Browning to either take some dangerous risks — or spend the rest of her life regretting what could have been.

CHAPTER 1

She’d purposely chosen a seat near the back of the class so she could study him without being obvious. It was remarkable how unchanged he was. The ten years since they’d seen one another had even enhanced his masculine appeal.

Shelley’s pen scratched across her tablet as she took notes. This was only the second week of the fall semester, but he was already well into the topics he wanted to cover before the final exams just before Christmas. He held the class’s rapt attention.

The political-science courses took place in one of the oldest buildings on campus. Its ivy-covered walls suggested a prestigious East Coast university rather than a college located in northeastern Oklahoma. The age of the building, its pleasantly creaking hardwood floors, and high-ceilinged, hushed hallways lent a sedate atmosphere that appealed to the prelaw students.

The instructor, Grant Chapman, leaned against the desk at the front of the classroom.

Mr. Chapman was as muscularly solid as he had been ten years before. Many a young heart had fluttered when he played on the faculty basketball team against the varsity. Dressed in only basketball trunks and a tank top, Grant Chapman had rendered the girls of Poshman Valley High School breathless. Shelley Browning included.

Silver now threaded the dark hair that was just as carelessly styled as it had been then. There had been a stringent rule against long hair at Poshman Valley High School, and the handsome young civics teacher had been one of its most frequent violators.
